NEW HAVEN, Pa. – West Chester claimed first place in seven of the 15 events, en route to a 141-102, non-league men’s swimming & diving meet at Southern Connecticut State Saturday afternoon.
Danielle Ierley was a double winner taking top honors in both the 200-yard freestyle (1 minute, 58.06 seconds) and the 500 free (5:13.30).
Megan Bauer won the 50 free (24.64) and placed second in the 100 free (53.36). Gina Agro won the 200 backstroke in a time of 2:14.27.
The highlight of the women’s meet once again came off the diving board where Heather Varas won the 3-meter competition and qualified for nationals with a score of 264.45. Dana DePaul placed third and Sammi Phillips fourth in the 3m event as well. Both were well over 200 points with DePaul scoring a 244.57 and Phillips a 229.65.
Varas also finished second in the 1m competition with a 229.19. DePaul was third with a 211.49 and Phillips was fourth with a 187.20.
West Chester also claimed first place in the 200 free relay and the 200 medley relay.
West Chester returns to action on Feb. 1 when it travels to Penn for another non-league tilt at 6 p.m.
